Our Daily Bread Ministries Canada is a Canadian charitable organization dedicated to making the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all. Using Christian principles in all our materials, the truths of Scripture are presented through print, digital, audio and video resources. Perhaps best known for the Our Daily Bread daily devotional, the Canadian office also translates additional resources into French and supports additional languages through cooperation with other Our Daily Bread Ministries offices around the world.

Position Summary:

Expert in digital design and print. Creating compelling visual content across multiple platforms, from websites and digital ads to brochures and packaging. Working closely with marketing and creative team to produce high-quality content that effectively communicates the brand message and engages our audience.

Essential Functions

1. Digital Design

  1. Design and create engaging graphics and videos for various digital platforms, including websites, social media, email campaigns, and digital ads. 
  2. Develop user interface (UI) elements for web and mobile applications, focusing on both functionality and aesthetics. 
  3. Collaborate with web developers to ensure designs are optimized for responsive layouts. 
  4. Maintain brand consistency across all digital content by adhering to established brand guidelines. 

2. Print Design

  1. Design marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, business cards, packaging, and promotional materials for print production. 
  2. Prepare and provide graphic documents (Our Daily Bread devotionals, brochures, letters, and cards) for our monthly production cycle of print files for our mailings. 
  3. Prepare final design files for print production, ensuring that all print specifications (CMYK, DPI, bleeds, and margins) are met. 
  4. Work closely with print vendors to ensure the quality and accuracy of printed materials. 
  5. Develop and design large-scale print materials like trade show banners, signage, and other promotional displays. 

3. Branding and Visual Identity

  1. Contribute to the development and evolution of the brand’s visual identity across all touchpoints, both digital and print.
  2. Create and maintain design templates that ensure consistent and efficient branding across campaigns and products.

4. Collaboration and Communication

  1. Work closely with marketing, content, and production teams to understand project goals and deliver high-quality designs that meet objectives.
  2. Take ownership of design projects from concept through to final execution, including revisions and feedback.
  3. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas to enhance overall design direction.

5. Project Management

  1. Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
  2. Maintain organized files and documentation for design assets and project workflows.
  3. Communicate with stakeholders to ensure design needs are met and deliverables are on schedule.

Study or Knowledge and Experience

1. Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

2. Experience:

  1. Minimum 5 years of professional design experience, with a portfolio that displays a range of digital and print design projects.
  2. Proven experience in creating both digital and print materials, including website design, video production, email templates, social media content, brochures, posters, and branding materials.

3. Technical Skills:

  1. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, Premiere Pro) or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of HTML/CSS (basic understanding or ability to collaborate with developers).
  3. Familiarity with web and mobile design best practices, and experience designing for responsive layouts.
  4. Experience with print production and preparing files for print.
  5. Experience producing video content for various web and social platforms.

4. Creative Skills:

  1. Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, and layout principles.
  2. Strong understanding of video elements, including videography, sound production, and editing.
  3. A keen eye for detail and a strong visual sense, with the ability to deliver aesthetically pleasing and functional designs.
  4. Ability to think creatively and problem-solve through design challenges.

5. Soft Skills:

  1. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to both creative and non-creative stakeholders.
  2. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  3. Collaborative mindset, comfortable working in a team environment and taking direction from project leads.

Internal Work Environment

  • Individual will work with the Marketing Department, reporting to the Director of Marketing and any other people designated by the Director of Marketing.

  • This position requires a satisfactory background check and police clearance as part of the employment conditions. An employment contract and a confidentiality agreement are required to conform to privacy policies.
  • Should be comfortable with their faith and biblical knowledge and must give written assent to ODBM’s Statement of Beliefs.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
