N 1965, GOD IGNITED A PASSION IN THE HEART OF DICK
Because many people in prison struggle with these issues, Dick’s passion is
directed toward restorative justice ministry. He has maintained the conviction,
“We’ve got to get to the prisoner before he’s released and help him build some
positive attitudes. I’m convinced that this can only be done on a man-to-man basis,
with a free man going to visit the imprisoned man for one reason only. . .
BECAUSE HE CARES.”
By 1970, Dick launched a ministry in British Columbia called M2
(Man-to-Man). Four years later, M2 expanded to include female inmates,
changing the name to M2/W2 (Man-to-Man/Woman-to-Woman). Over the
past three decades, God blessed M2/W2 with undeniable success partnering
with prisoners and guiding them toward healing, hope and purpose through
the gospel.
Robert’s story is one that vividly illustrates God’s work through
M2/W2 to renew broken, hurting lives. Robert allowed his life to spin out of
control, leading him to a long prison sentence before age 21.
“I knew I wasn’t going to make it on my own. I felt my new environment
and situation were more than I could handle. I was alone; a stranger in a
strange land, completely overwhelmed.”
Having hit rock bottom, Robert realized it was impossible to mend his shat-
tered life on his own. “In the privacy of my cell, I began a deep desperation
and sincere call for help from God,” he said. Even though Robert was ready
