Elaine Warkentin, the store manager of Hidden
Treasures in Chilliwack, says, “Hidden Treasures
serves as an integral step in the restoration process
for inmates extending outside prison walls.” She
was introduced to Robert in 2017 and helped him
during his next stage of community reintegration.
Along with assigning him tasks, she also provided
him—and all volunteers—with Our Daily Bread devo- Hidden Treasures
tionals to encourage daily Bible reading.

Robert has proven his rehabilitation in many
ways, including through working at Hidden
Treasures. By God’s grace, he was recently granted
day parole. For Robert, this means being able to be
present in his role as husband and father. It also
means he can enjoy fellowship with his church
family and have the opportunity to start working to
     provide for his family.

Through recently made connections, a local
business owned by a Christian family offered Robert
an electrician apprenticeship. He is now headed
toward electrical licensing, while looking forward
to a future where he can lead his family in faith and
answer the call to serve others in need. Top: Hidden Treasures storefront in

provided guidance toward healing, hope and purpose through the gospel. In
Matthew 25:31–46, Jesus includes the often-overlooked imprisoned in His list
of people groups believers should help as a way to show love and obedience
to Him. We are not all called into prison ministry, but we can all offer support
and prayers for those who are and for those to whom they minister. Jesus
never overlooks the imprisoned because no one is outside of
His power to save. The greatest display of God’s glory is when
He makes a broken life new through Jesus Christ.
